As part of my Clean Closet series, I've been tackling the key areas that a guy should focus on in order to keep his closet clean and his style timeless. One of the key tenants of that series is that you should almost always opt for quality over quantity. I idea being that its better to spend $100 on a shirt that fits you right, is sewn with quality craftsmanship and will last, rather than buying 5 cheaply made shirts that will quickly fall apart or don't fit just right. One piece of clothing that is a Wardrobe Essential in the Clean Closet is the button down. A few high-quality button down shirts mixed with some jackets can go a long way in your weekly attire. One of the key things to keep in mind when purchasing new shirts is that fit should trump brand every time. Luckily there are companies out there to help in this area.
I recently came across a company, Twillory which manufactures and sells just these types of shirts. Founded in Austria in 1892 by Emanual Goldschmidt the company has since relocated to New York and focuses on producing high-quality, great fitting shirts at a reasonable price. Their versatile patterns and colors are guaranteed to go with just about anything in your wardrobe. While I haven't tried any of their shirts yet, I am excited to receive my package and let you all know how they fit and what they look like when on. I'm confident that I'll be returning to their website for another order soon.
I'm also a big fan of their Re-Purpose campaign where they've partners with CareerGear to encourages people to send in their unused shirts. These shirts are then given to people in poverty to wear to their interviews and potential jobs.
Bonus: Use Twillory promo code STOCKUP to get 4 button downs for only $199!
