I have found the holy-grail of dress shoes with the Newman Chukka rubber outsole shoe by Paul Evans. Having long struggled to find a shoe that is the perfect amount of formal/casual for the Hawaii business scene, I was sure all hope was lost in my quest to perfect business aloha attire. With the hot weather and active lifestyle that many of us Kama'aina (Hawaii local) have, it has been difficult to look sharp while not taking on the appearance of a wall street stock broker. While it is hard to get dressed for work when there pristine white sand beaches just a stones throw from the office, the shift in professionalism is progressing the Islands business culture in the right direction.

All Paul Evans products are handcrafted in a company owned factory in Italy which allows total oversight and quality control. When you open the box of Paul Evans shoes the craftsmanship and dedication to quality is an explosion across all senses. The full grain Italian calfskin leather smells divine and is polished so smooth you can practically see your face in the reflection. Holding the shoe in your hands is like picking up that $20,000 sculpture at the art shop and you can almost feel the passion that went into making your new pair of shoes. Above all, the versatility of the Newman Chukka is what made me the most excited. Having a range of events and work meetings in Honolulu from black tie Christmas parties to pau hana (happy hour) cocktail events, the sufficiently dressy Chukka transitions perfectly between social occasions. The shoes are dressy enough to be worn with suit and add the perfect amount of class to business casual when you throw on slacks or jeans.
It's time to step up your game
Wherever you are located, the Newman Cukka is a solid shoe. One of my favorite options is being able to choose leather or rubber outsoles. I choose the rubber as I attend lots of events and polo matches where you are walking on grass. The rubber sole has very good grip and kept my feet planted even while walking across beer soaked danced floors.
